Sugawara, tearing up, proclaims that if Kageyama feels that way about his team now, then he will feel the same way about any team he is a part of in the future. Daichi, exhausted, falls back and stares at the bright lights in the ceiling before standing, unsteady, and joining the rest of his team. Both sides line up, bow, and shake hands. Hinata, watching with the borrowed tablet from the hospital waiting room, bows with his team.  The third year members of Karasuno take one last time to bow to the court and the audience. Meanwhile, Kita tells the Miya twins his view that winning isn't everything. Even if they feel that results are everything, especially for those only focused on the competitive aspect of volleyball, the experiences that they shared on the way here were worthwhile. Kageyama serves. Nozawa manages to keep it in the air, but the ball ricochets back toward Karasuno's side of the court. Bessho is able to slam it past the net, and Nishinoya dives for the receive. Tsukishima sets the ball up for Tanaka, who spikes a super inner shot past three blockers. Kanbayashi saves the ball, which bounces back to Karasuno's side.  They rush forth with a synchro attack, and Kageyama sets it high for Tsukishima--but he gets a cramp in his leg at the most inopportune time. The ball falls to the ground. The score is 22-23. Coach Ukai is divided on who to sub in for Tsukishima. Due to the current rotation, he wants the tallest blocker available in Yamaguchi, but he also values the experience Sugawara would bring at this dire stage of the game. Shimada leaves the game to take care of Hinata, entrusting the cheering to Saeko and the rest. Karasuno is seemingly in a difficult situation, but Kageyama calmly reassures the team that they are all plenty strong. Daichi apologizes to Kamomedai's captain Suwa for causing a commotion before huddling the team together and reigniting their fighting spirit.  Karasuno's team and cheer squad sounds off in unison to show off their determination. Meanwhile, Yachi reminds Hinata to change out of his wet clothes and keep warm. Hinata follows her advice and notices Kenma approaching. Kenma says he came to cheer up a friend and causes Hinata to tear up. When asked if he had any way to watch the game, Kenma reveals he came to lend Hinata his tablet. The game resumes with Narita going in for a spike but is blocked by Gao and Hirugami. Kamomedai regains the lead with a score of 18 - 17 but Narita evens out the score again with a spike over the middle. While Shimada calls for a cab...

Hinata falls to the ground and has a hard time regaining his balance, surprising everybody watching the match. Karasuno immediately calls for a timeout, and Kageyama deduces that Hinata probably has a fever. Kageyama has noticed that Hinata's hands felt too hot before and explains that Hinata is worn out from being so high-strung the past few days. A quick examination reveals that Hinata has a 39.1 °C (102.4 F) fever.  Coach Ukai and the team realize that they have grown careless after being so used to Hinata's stamina level that they failed to notice any prior warning signs. Hinata desperately pleads with Ukai to let him stay and continue playing. A reluctant Takeda instructs Hinata that he must go to the medical station and earns a harsh glare from the latter. With not enough preparation time for both teams, Kageyama tries a dump shot only to be stopped by Kamomedai's triple block.  The stray ball unexpectedly flies into Daichi's foot. Daichi, who is in the midst of approaching for a back row attack, reacts instantly and kicks the ball back to Kamomedai. Everybody is surprised by Daichi's aggressiveness, but Daichi, as the captain of a highly offensive team, refuses to lose to Hinata. Tsukishima lands a touch on Nozawa's spike, and Hinata follows up. Karasuno clamors around Tsukishima after he skillfully dodges Hoshiumi's blockout. Kuroo and Tendō separately conclude that Kamomedai has even more information to process now that Hinata and Tsukishima showed off their new techniques. Off of their set win, Karasuno is in good condition with even the easily agitated Asahi feeling confident. Meanwhile, Hoshiumi and Hirugami seem to be affected by Tsukishima's dodge and Hinata's quick respectively.  They, nevertheless, are able to banter lightheartedly with their teammates, showing a calm and laid-back attitude even in the face of difficulty. It is revealed that Kamomedai's coach, Aaron Murphy, is someone well-known with extensive experience coaching pro-leagues in Italy and Japan. After coming to Kamomedai, he bestows his own philosophy upon the players. In particular, he focuses on strengthening the team's serves, blocks, and mental toughness. Gao declares that he will stop Hinata the next time and is confounded when he receives a delighted smile from Hinata in response.  As Tsukishima enters the game, he recalls the moment when he found out about Akiteru's lies and the existence of the "Small Giant." Kamomedai is still trying to process what just happened, but Hirugami knows that the spike signifies trouble for them. Asahi's brillant spike brings back the momentum for Karasuno while Kamomedai calls for a time-out. Inspired by the ace's performance, Hinata is determined to fulfill his role as the decoy and distract the blockers. Bokuto and Akaashi, who have come to observe the match, note that Karasuno is not out of the danger zone yet after depleting a great deal of energy in a drawn-out match against Nekoma. Once the match resumes, Sugawara targets Hoshiumi with a serve for the third time only to find Kanbayashi taking the receive instead. Hoshiumi, now unrestrained, scores effortlessly to end Sugawara's brief turn on the court.  On the spectators stand, Saeko wonders why Karasuno isn't utilizing their tallest blockers against Hoshiumi. She is soon dismayed after Udai and Akiteru explain that such tactics will only make it easier for Hoshiumi to perform his blockouts.
